Chinese autonomous driving firm Pony.ai saw its shares rise after announcing plans to scale production of self-driving trucks in collaboration with SANY Heavy Trucks and Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor. The partnership aims to develop a fourth-generation line of automated trucks, with an initial target of 1,000 units based on advanced electric platforms.

The MOVE signals Pony.ai's push to dominate the autonomous trucking sector, leveraging shared components with its Robotaxi system to reduce per-vehicle costs by 70%. Earlier this month, the company also deployed its seventh-generation L4 autonomous vehicles in Shenzhen, underscoring its dual focus on freight and passenger mobility.
